LA HAYA, 3 de diciembre de 2008 – Ayer el Tribunal del Cannabis->http://www.cannabistribunaal.nl] de La Haya terminó con la [conclusión final que una prohibición del cannabis tiene efectivamente más desventajas que ventajas. Los representantes del Partido cristianodemócrata (CDA) no logró convencer un juez independiente de lo contrario. A nombre de los organizadores, Joep Oomen, portavoz, lanzó un llamado a los parlamentarios holandeses a que soliciten el gobierno de Holanda de abolir esta prohibición lo más pronto posible.

Un monto de 200.000 euros había sido ofrecido al partido político que sería capaz de convencer una corte independiente de los efectos positivos de una prohibición del cannabis.

Los organizadores habían tenido dificultades en encontrar personas dispuestas a defender la prohibición. Oomen: “No hay médicos en Holanda dispuestos a mantener públicamente que el cannabis es un mayor peligro para la salud pública y que la prohibición tiene algún efecto positivo.”

De todos los partidos políticos, solamente el CDA había sido dispuesto a aceptar el desafío. Tanto el alcalde Leonard Geluk de Rotterdam como la parlamentaria Cisca Joldersma han propuesto a limitar más el número de coffeeshops.

El experto en argumentación y filósofo legal Hendrik Kaptein, presidente del corte creado para este propósito, destruyó la defensa de los cristianodemócratas. Delante de una audiencia de científicos, antiguos policías, dueños de coffeeshops y activistas cannábicos Kaptein caracterizó sus argumentos como ‘falacias’ y ‘absolutamente sin valor alguno’.

La corte no podía encontrar ningún argumento contra el planteamiento para la legalización del mercado de cannabis propuesto por Hans van Duijn, antiguo presidente de la Asociación de Policías de Holanda y un miembro de LEAP. De acuerdo a Van Duijn, el CDA, debido a la continuación de la prohibición del cannabis, es responsable para el 50% de la criminalidad en Holanda, y para que cada año, se desgasta 1.500 millones de euros a una guerra contra las drogas insensata. Joldersma no hizo ningún esfuerzo para contradecir estos argumentos.
