80% van Nederlandse coffeeshopgemeenten voor regulering

Regelmatig wordt het VOC benaderd over de stand van zaken rond het Joint Regulation manifest, waarin een grote groep burgemeesters pleit voor regulering van de cannabisteelt. Daarom een update van de lijst met gemeenten die het manifest steunen, inclusief het aantal coffeeshops in die gemeenten.

Het manifest werd op 31 januari 2014 in Utrecht gepresenteerd en ondertekend door 23 burgemeesters en oud VVD-leider Frits Bolkestein, verklaard voorstander van legalisering. Het aantal gemeenten dat het manifest -al dan niet na druk van de gemeenteraad- ondersteunt is sindsdien blijven groeien.

Op dit moment hebben 58 gemeenten het manifest ondertekend; Vlaardingen was op 4 juni 2015 de meest recente ondertekenaar. In de 58 Joint Regulation gemeenten zijn 462 coffeeshops gevestigd, 79,38 procent van het totale aantal coffeeshops in Nederland, 582 (volgens de meest recente telling van onderzoeksbureau Intraval).

Het totale aantal coffeeshops in Nederland bedraagt 582. De gemeenten die het manifest steunen herbergen samen dus 79,38 procent van het totale aantal coffeeshops in Nederland.
