¿Cómo podar la planta de marihuana?

La poda de la planta de cannabis consiste en cortar algunas yemas, hojas o tallos con mucho cuidado. Podando las yemas aumentaremos la ramificación y mantendremos la planta baja y compacta. También podemos podar la planta de marihuana empezando por las ramas más bajas, de esta manera la planta de cannabis podrá concentrar su energía en los cogollos principales.

Muchos cultivadores de marihuana piensan que si se podan las ramas más grandes, la planta de cannabis podrá concentrar su energía en los cogollos. En el cultivo de la planta de cannabis hay que tener presente que las hojas producen alimentos nutritivos que distribuyen luego a toda la planta.

Cuando los días empiezan a acortarse, la planta de cannabis percibe que es tiempo de florecer porque el otoño se acerca. Si la poda es tardía es muy probable que la floración de los cogollos se atrase ya que la planta de cannabis no logrará medir correctamente la duración de la luz y no se obtendrá la cosecha que se necesita.

Sería interesante podar la yema central cuando la planta de marihuana tiene 4 pares de hojas, sin contar los cotiledones que recubren las semillas de marihuana. La planta producirá entonces 2 nuevas ramas y cuando tenga nuevamente 4 pares de hojas volveremos a podar las yemas. De esta manera, obtendremos 4 pares de ramas y la planta de cannabis será más compacta y tupida.

Las ramitas de las plantas de marihuana medicinal que no se desarrollan se podan para que la planta de marihuana concentre su energía en las ramas más grandes. Es necesario podar la planta de marihuana por las ramas que reciben poca luz y tienden a atrofiarse. Algunos dejan solamente el tallo central, sin ramificación. Estas plantas de cannabis son entonces más estrechas y ocupan poco espacio.

Una de las muchas creencias respecto de la planta de marihuana, es que las hojas grandes hacen sombra y al cortarlas se benefician los cogollos. Esto es incorrecto y perjudica la salud de su planta. Las hojas más grandes son una fábrica de alimento fotosintético y cuando mueren, una reserva de clorofila. Durante su vida la hoja produce azúcares que sirven a la alimentación de la planta y ayudan a fabricar sus tejidos.

En el momento de la floración de la planta de cannabis estas mismas hojas amarillean y se secan, pero antes envían su clorofila hacia otras partes de la planta. Si podamos esas hojas, la planta debe producir clorofila y no puede concentrarse en el THC, lo que nos interesa a todos.
