19.00 : FILM WAR ON DRUGS

Im Juni 1998 verkündeten die Vereinten Nationen eine 10-Jahres-Strategie, um messbare Resultate im Kampf gegen Drogen zu erzielen. Diese Strategie beinhaltet auch eine deutliche Reduktion des Anbaus von Hanf, Koka und Schlafmohn bis ins Jahr 2008.

Am 10.März 2008 traf sich die Drogenkommission der Vereinten Nationen in Wien um die Resultate dieser Strategie zu beraten.

In den letzten 10 Jahren war der “Krieg gegen Drogen” wieder einmal erfolglos. Der Gebrauch von Drogen kann Probleme verursachen, aber das Verbot von Drogen führt zu Katastrophen.

Millionen von Leute werden kriminalisiert, Milliarden von Euros werden für einen sinnlosen und kontraproduktiven “Krieg gegen Drogen” ausgegeben.

Die Bemühungen den Schaden zu minimieren und den verantwortlichen Umgang mit Drogen zu verbessern werden durch Regierungen aktiv vereitelt.

Unterdessen bleibt der Drogenmarkt in den Händen des organisierten Verbrechens, die erhebliche Gewinne erwirtschaften. Dadurch wird das globale Wirtschaftssystem gestört und eine weit verbreitete Korruption ist eine Folge davon.

Die Drogenpolitik sollte eine Angelegenheit des öffentlichen Gesundheitswesens sein und nicht der Exekutive.

Wir fordern von der UNO, das Recht für alle erwachsen Weltbürger Pflanzen für den Eigenbedarf und nicht kommerzielle Zwecke anzubauen.
Gleichzeitig sollte es einzelnen Ländern erlaubt sein, eine Drogenpolitik zu erproben, welche nicht auf Verboten basiert.

“Vienna 2008” war die Gelegenheit dieses dringende Anliegen den Vereinten Nationen vorzubringen.

Der Krieg gegen Drogen muss aufhören! Helfen Sie uns Frieden zu schließen!
