Ahora apuestan al autocultivo

“Decepción”, ese es el estado de ánimo que mejor define a los militantes
de la legalización de la marihuana tras el freno que el gobierno le puso a
un proyecto anunciado con bombos y platillos. Muchos apuestan a retomar la
iniciativa del autocultivo.

“Se jugó un poco con la opinión pública y lo que estábamos esperando era
ver por dónde se iban al mazo, para usar las palabras del propio
presidente. Me queda una sensación de decepción”, dijo a El País la
escritora argentina Alicia Castilla, una de las caras más visibles a favor
de la legalización de la marihuana, en especial del autocultivo.

A casi un mes de que el gobierno anunciara un ambicioso proyecto de
regulación del consumo de marihuana, en el que el propio Estado se
encargaría de la producción y distribución de la droga, el presidente José
Mujica le bajó revoluciones al asunto.

Dijo que si la población no apoyaba la medida -una encuesta de Cifra
divulgada la semana pasada indica que el 66% está en contra- entonces se
iba “al mazo”.

Para Castilla, que el año pasado estuvo presa por tenencia de plantas de
marihuana, es “poco creíble” que en este tema todo quede librado a la
opinión pública. “Cómo el tema de una minoría -según el propio gobierno
somos 150 mil personas las que consumimos marihuana- puede estar sometido
a una mayoría que desconoce el asunto”, se preguntó Castilla.

Martín Collazo, integrante de la organización ProLegal, coincide.
“Generalmente en nuestro país no se hace política desde lo que plantean
las encuestas, sino tendríamos que revisar nuestro modelo de democracia”,
señaló.

Para Castilla, la pausa que le imprimió Mujica al proyecto hace que se
“agote” el debate. “Es un atraso más que un adelanto”, opinó.

Sin embargo, para el diputado frenteamplista Sebastián Sabini, se “avanzó
mucho, porque es la primera vez que se plantea tan profundamente la
discusión de un tema”. Agregó que ahora “se tiene que hacer lo que se hace
con los proyectos: debatirlos en sociedad”.

Sabini, que es autor de un proyecto de ley que legaliza el autocultivo de
marihuana, destacó que si el Poder Ejecutivo finalmente no presenta su
proyecto de ley sobre la marihuana, se deberá insistir con las iniciativas
ya enviadas al Parlamento.

Collazo opinó igual. “Ya existían proyectos que planteaban el autocultivo
y los clubes de cannabis. Si el gobierno no avanza en su idea, seguiremos
trabajando junto a los legisladores en los proyectos que ya se
presentaron”, concluyó.
