Amigos de María, a Spanish association of cannabis consumers offers legal advise to its members in order to deal with fines

The Association ‘Amigos de María-Mariaren lagunak‘, of Basque Country, Spain, advocating the legalization of cannabis, will offer from September onwards a free legal advise to deal with administrative sanctions and fines in relation to supposed crimes related to cannabis and its derivates.

The Association, situated in Calle Correría in Vitoria, has reached an agreement with the lawyers’ office ‘Fraile and associates’, that will provide those who ask for it with various specialists in administrative and penal procedures related to cannabis.

The Association ‘Amigos de María’, which earlier promoted the first marihuana bank in Spain, announced that the initiative will probably take off from September 1st onwards.

In order to benefit from the services, people need to purchase a “normalisation card”.

This document will be issued by the Association to persons who are at least 18 years.

In a press release, the association explains that the initiative “should not be considered as a way to encourage the use of any substance”.

The “normalisation card”, is, according to its creators, “an effective tool of defense against a law that we consider to be wrong”.

Besides, the card will enable the holder to attend political and social events to promote the legal normalisation of cannabis.

The office ‘Fraile and associates’ will provide the holders of this card with contacts to its network of offices that is spread around Spain.

The price of the card will be symbolical or free, although this question has not been cleared out yet by the Association, that will take a decision on this issue in the near future.
