The Association AVE MARIA (Asociación Viguesa de Estudios de la María ), formed by cannabis consumers in Vigo, Spain, announces publically its initiative to establish a second collective plantation that will produce an amount of cannabis that will fill the needs for personal use of the members and generate a stock that will be used to people who use cannabis for therapeutical purposes. Thus it will be avoided that these people need to supply themselves on the black market, creating harms and risks such as adulterated substances, arrests, overpricing etc.
Given the fact that growing cannabis for personal use is not penalised in Spain, we have decided to cary out collective plantations, based on various resolutions from the Supreme Court and other courts, particularly the verdict in the case of the Association Pannagh from Bilbao.
Our plantation is progressing and we will inform you about the results by the end of October.
Like other years we are obliged to denounce various interventions made by the authorities to confiscate small cannabis plantations that were aimed for personal use, involving the arest of individuals. Most of these cases are immediately solved by the legal authorities, as the people are released and the charges against them are dropped, due to the fact that there has not been any crime. However, the plants can not be recovered due to the bad treatment received in police offices. These are contradictions in the system that does not intervene against other illegal substances that are commercialised by drug traffickers, but attacks homegrown cannabis, produced without commercial purposes.
We will continue to fight for normalisation of cannabis and for the right to plant freely for own or collective use.
Greetings and Good Health
