Cannabis could be the next big swedish export is the name of his article on Politikerbloggen , a
popular blog about politics. He now hopes that the debate about cannabis legal status is going to be
debated like any other topic. Calmy, sensible and with the facts.
This is the first time in swedish political history that a politician and running candidate for a
parliamentpost, with a well known party, questions the current drug laws before a general election.
“We in the Center Party are not afraid to discuss issues, big or small, and knows there are probably
a lot of good arguments, for and against the swedish prohibition of cannabis,” he writes in the
article. He also hopes his party will reach a shared position on the issue ahead of the party
conference next year.
In the article he also brings up concern about personal freedom, economic growth and the
governmental abuse that follows in the footsteps of mass criminalisation of the drugs users.
On his blog he raises the same questions with regards to California, as well as most of Europe, are
moving towards a regulation of soft drugs instead of continuing prohibition.
Reactions of the article have mostly come from his political opponents that dismisses his arguments
as pro-drugs, concerns about an increase in drugaddicts and an increased desperate sitting
conservative government.
