Do you want to grow your own medical marijuana?
For the third year in a row, the civic association Legalizace.cz is sending out free medical marijuana seeds to all non-minor citizens who want to cultivate marijuana for self-treatment. By creating this spring event “Seeds to Seniors”, Legalizace.cz is reacting to the constantly growing public interest in the healing qualities and proven beneficial effects of this forbidden plant.
Even though modern medical research has registered positive effects of marijuana during the treatment and the alleviation of certain illnesses such as multiple sclerosis, cancer, AIDS, Crohn’s disease, and Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease (Marijuana kills cancer cells and, according to Professor Lumír Hanuš from the Hebrew University in Israel, should be cultivated for cancer treatment, it is still unavailable for the use of sick patients in the Czech Republic due to drug prohibition.
The goal of the “Seeds to Seniors” event is to provide those who decide to cultivate medical marijuana not only with free medical marijuana seeds, but also with references to sources about cultivation and legislation. The organization also hopes to raise the interest of specialists and doctors in cooperating with patients and providing them with clinical and unbiased counsel regarding the possible treatment, administration and dosage of this healing herb.
“We are fully aware that any sort of unauthorized handling of medical marijuana which contains more than 0.3% of THC is currently illegal. We do not wish for anyone to get into difficulties with the law and that is why we inform all applicants of the risks associated with the cultivation and possession of medical marijuana. However, we do not intend to just stand by and let people’s basic rights to life and health be denied because of unreasonable and obsolete paragraphs of drug law.
Consequently, we appeal to the government to legalize marijuana for medicinal purposes and to protect Czech citizens who could use medical marijuana for alleviating or eradicating their suffering from fines, arrests and criminal prosecution,” stated the organizer of the event, Robert Veverka.
In the Czech Republic, it is apparent that legal reform for medical marijuana is supported by experts, the general public and even some legislators. Other states in the world (voters in Arizona permitted the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes and even some European states have already legally defined medical marijuana in such a way as to offer their citizens safe, effective and also affordable medication.
