Main political parties for the European Elections

Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrat, Green, UKIP, possibly the BNP and other smaller parties, In Wales maybe Plaid Cymru and others in Northern Ireland and Scotland.

What is the position of these parties on:

Drug policy reform/ harm reduction, health-based approach to drugs / decriminalisation of cannabis and/or other drugs/ Cannabis Social Clubs?
Green Party supports the idea of cannabis “pubs although they refuse to make it a priority issue in elections”; Plaid Cymru support decriminalisation; Lib Dem policy seems to be confused: most of the parties allow candidates to stay outside party policy to some extent, Conservative and Labour just say no to everything and regard prohibition as a harm reduction policy.

What are the two most important threats on the political and legal front?

Arrest, treatment or punishment with a fine or prison sentence; for small amounts a caution or police warning may be issued

What is the most promising or positive development concerning drug policy?

Public attitude is changing but neither of the big two parties have moved their stance at all. 2013 has sen the formation of CSC’s although not functioning, and there have been many more public protests and smoke-outs and many more planned for next year: although police say they may arrest anyone in possession of cannabis (drug) and have often turned up in numbers, there have been no arrests despite protesters openly smoking cannabis; most press reports and radio phone-ins have been favorable, suggesting public attitude is changing, but few politicians support any change in the law.
